Mindfulness meditation is a contemplative practice of bringing your present-moment awareness to everything that you do. Beginners and experienced meditators alike often choose one activity, and use that as their "practice' rather than trying to apply it to everything you do.

Conscious eating is the art of bringing mindfulness meditation to eating. Through the exquisite process of self-observation, practiced on a regular basis, it can lead to insights, self-awareness, self-acceptance and a deeper understanding of your inner drives and motives. It can also lead to natural weight loss, by uncovering the root causes of unconscious over-eating.  When you begin being mindful during eating, you become aware of unconscious patterns in your own mind.

             

Conscious eating is a tool for recognising unconscious patterns in your mind. Once you become aware of these patterns in your own mind, you can change them. Changing these patterns and putting new patterns in place, is what will change your approach to food, and eventually lead to weight loss. 

             

Many diets fail because they only focus on the food itself, and not your mind. Of course you will lose weight if you eat less, but if you don't work on your mental attitude, if you don't understand what drove you to overeat in the first place, you will only flip back to your old habits, once the diet is done. The key to sustained health and weight loss lies in a deeper understanding of your own mind.

Conscious Eating is an invitation... to really 'be' with your Self.

Through continued mindfulness you discover the root causes of your own unconscious overeating. Recognition of these patterns in yourself allows for healing, and change. Once you change these patterns in your consciousness, you can choose a different approach to your food, change your relationship with food, and your body begins to regulate itself. It is all about recognising and changing patterns in your own mind.

Conscious Eating is not a fast weight-loss program.

It takes courage to be with yourself in deeper ways. You have to be kind to yourself and be committed to the process, as you uncover layer after layer. As you go deeper you may discover old hurts that you have tried to 'stuff down' by over eating. It is an ongoing process of Self-discovery, and there really is no end to the journey.

When you begin conscious eating, the first thing you notice will not be the root cause: you have to be prepared to stay alert and keep going deeper. 

           

It is best to not have weight loss as a goal but just to begin 
from the perspective of deepening your insight and self-understanding, 
that way there is no attachment to outcome.  

                                  

We all have learned behaviour patterns around food. If you have courage and are prepared to take steps to change, you can change. You CAN change these behaviour patterns and alter your relationship with food. When you do this, your body weight naturally regulates itself. 

                  

Your Body Can Balance Itself

Although Conscious Eating takes time, patience and effort it is still a kind, gentle and natural way to restore balance to your body. Through mindful awareness you begin to recognize that your body really can balance itself and heal. You can return to good health, provided you stay committed, alert and responsive to your body's needs.

It is not about what you eat, but how you eat it. 

You can continue eating what you have always eaten, but if you eat with mindfulness, 
you will begin changing, eating differently, with awareness, and your body will begin to regulate itself.
